JENNI'S OFF-GRID NEWSLETTER, NO. 40 (DECEMBER, 2018)
December 18, 2018
Festive Greetings from Down UnderAnother year almost over and I hope it has been mostly a good year, personally at least, for every one of you. For us, it has been more than enough, especially the last few weeks semi-packing up our home and getting started on building the new one. But now we are off island for six weeks; first with one son and his family, next with one daughter and family and then three weeks on Heron Island, the island that motivated “A Drop in the Ocean”! It will be full-on turtle nesting season as well as bird nesting, and hot and humid. Fabulous. Can’t wait; it is one of our top happy places. A tiny coral cay, clear blue warm seas, pure white coral sand, some of the best snorkling in the world (hopefully the coral hasn’t suffered from bleaching; it is in the southern outer part of the Great Barrier Reef), fascinating research projects going on at the Research Station where we will be, and turtles… As well as a lot of as yet unread novels on my trusty Kindle. I have a research project researching a new novel. How cool is that? My next newsletter will come from there. Above is a photo from when I was a few years younger, turtle tagging on Heron. Back then we had four children aged one to nine; now we have five grandchildren aged seven to fifteen. Oops, perhaps more than a few years ago!
So all good wishes for a peaceful and happy festive season and talk to you all in 2019!
